About UT School
of Nursing
Our campus
It’s only logical that nursing schools are generally situated in close proximity to hospitals. But students and faculty at the UT School of Nursing learn and teach their profession in the heart of one of the world’s finest medical centers, under the auspices of the region’s most comprehensive academic health science center.
Here you have the best of all possible worlds within health care: a center for research and discovery, a collection of cooperative medical and educational institutions, and a centrally-located campus in the fourth largest city in the country. Students, nurse educators and researchers need look no further than outside the doors of their school to find health care genius
and expertise.
Our health science center
As a school within The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, the UT School of Nursing joins its sister institutions under the stewardship and guidance of James T. Willerson, MD, a visionary leader who believes in the spirit of collaboration and excellence in education, in research and in community service through public health expertise, information and outreach. Dr. Willerson emphasizes that our collective mission as a member school of the UT Health Science Center at Houston is to conquer the common diseases of our time, and in our time.
Nursing can help make that mission achievable. As a nursing student, a nurse graduate, a nurse educator or a nurse researcher, you will be working alongside your colleagues in the six schools and other units of the UT Health Science Center at Houston.
Within our school
Aside from the didactic and clinical coursework, hands-on experience and honing of practice skills, the UT School of Nursing also offers students and faculty a number of specialized centers of study and clinical facilities.
