Innovation and technology in nursing

It is our solemn responsibility to make sure that our nurse students, nurse educators and nurse researchers have the state-of-the-art equipment needed to be leaders in nursing technology, current practices and use of technical equipment –  most importantly, electronic information and computing technology. Today, students and faculty need ready access to high-speed Internet access and computer learning aids. The concept of Distance Learning owes its success in recent years to high-speed servers and enhanced desktop systems. At UT School of Nursing, Distance Learning is influencing the level of nursing care around the world.

The Best Education by the Best Educators

Our faculty is among the most distinguished teams of nurse educators, practitioners, scholars, and internationally recognized researchers in the country. They are committed and entirely focused on imparting their knowledge, techniques, insights and skills to their students. They are also one of the most collegial groups of educator-scholars in our field. Our degree program leaders are acclaimed in the field of nursing and well respected as health care educators. The continuity of education our students receive at the hands of our faculty is mirrored by the continuity of care they will strive to provide their future patients. It comes from having something in common at the core of the spirit – commitment to the calling of nursing.

And there is no one better qualified to speak for our faculty and nurse scholars than our dean of more than 20 years, Patricia L. Starck, DSN, RN, FAAN.

“With four kids, a husband deployed in Iraq and a full-time job as a clinical nurse specialist, it would have been impossible for me to pursue my DSN were it not for UT School of Nursing’s Distance Learning program. Everyone at the school has bent over backward to make this happen for me and my fellow distance learners.”
