Her research was "Development of a Spiritually Based Self Management Intervention Curriculum for African Americans with Type 2 Diabetes". She will receive the reward and a check for $1500 in Austin on October 2, 2008.

Rebecca L Casarez, PhD, RN - The journal Clinical Nursing Research has accepted her Dr. Casarez' manuscript, Spirituality: A Cultural Strength for African American Mothers with HIV, for publication. Becky co-authored this paper with Margaret Shandor Miles, PhD, RN, FAAN, Becky’s advisor at the School of Nursing, The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The paper should be out in May.
