"Living After Stroke: Conversations with Couples," won a Remi PLATINUM Award at the 40th annual WorldFest-Houston Film Festival. The award was presented to the Executive Producer, Dr. Sharon K. Ostwald at the awards banquet on April 28, 2007. There were 4,500 entries in 10
different categories from 37 different countries. Approximately 10-12% of the entries won bronze, silver, gold or platinum awards. The video won in the Religion and Ethics division of the Film and Video Production category. The Co-producer was Dr. Thomas Cole and ttweak was the production company. The video was funded by the Isla Carroll Turner Friendship Trust.
The 27 minute video featured interviews with six stroke survivors and their spouses who participated in the CAReS research study, funded by the National Institute for Nursing Research (NIH) to the University of Texas School of Nursing at Houston . The couples, 2 to 4 years after experiencing their strokes, talked honestly and poignantly about the issues that they face on a daily basis in their ongoing recovery.
