Since 2005, the Speros Martel Endowment for the Aging has provided funds to support nurses who, as a part of their graduate degrees, are learning to manage the care of indigent elderly individuals.  To date, ten graduate-level nursing students have received funding as Martel Research Scholars. 

Annurally, scholarships were awarded to one to three nurses whose research focuses on the management of culturally sensitive and high quality care of disadvantaged elderly individuals.  The amount of each scholarship will vary by need and by availability of funds; however, most range from $1,500 to $2,500.
