Dr. Hanneman is the Jerold B. Katz Distinguished Professor for Nursing Research, Associate Dean for Research, and Director, Center for Nursing Research at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston School of Nursing. She conducts laboratory and clinical research on weaning adult patients from mechanical ventilation, using a chronobiology perspective, and clinical trials to test the efficacy and safety of interventions to prevent pulmonary complications in mechanically ventilated adults. Dr. Hanneman was the 1994 University of Florida, College of Nursing Outstanding Alumna and 2000 Distinguished Research Lecturer of the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses. She has served on several federal and non-federal grant review panels and editorial boards of nursing research journals.
Dr. Hanneman teaches research measurement in the doctoral program and mentors BSN Honors Program, masters and doctoral students. Hanneman received the BSN from the University of Florida, Gainesville; the MSN from the University of California, San Francisco (Pulmonary Critical Care Clinical Nurse Specialist); and the PhD from Texas Woman's University, Houston.
