Nancy H. Busen, PhD, RN, FNP-C, is engaged in research on the development and revision of an instrument to measure adolescent risk-taking. The original study was conducted with a group of high-risk adolescents in the National Job Corps Program and was funded by the Division of Nursing. The revision of the instrument began in November of 1995 with high-risk urban teens at Community Partners Clinics and was completed in January of 1997. Data analysis for this, has been completed. The instrument revision study is funded by an Intramural Grant through the UT-Houston School of Nursing. The second area of her research was completed in 1992 and was based on leadership potential of nurse practitioner graduates.
She received a post-masters FNP at the University of Colorado in 1979 and a PhD at Texas Woman's University. Dr. Busen was a Robert Wood Johnson Faculty Fellow in Primary Care at the University of Colorado prior to becoming Project Director of the Core program, a three-tract NP program and Co-Project Director of the PNP program at the University of Texas at Arlington.
