Dr. Theresa L. Carroll has focused her teaching and practice in the area of nursing administration and community health. She has had research funded to study new graduates' adjustment to the hospital work world, nurse executive and manager job loss, the characteristics of nurse managers and the leadership skills that women will need to succeed in the 21st century.

Dr. Carroll has served as program director for federally funded projects to establish nurse managed wellness centers for inner city dwelling elders, a doctoral program outreach to rural Texas and New Mexico, and a Consortium to Advance Nursing Diversity and Opportunity (CANDO).

In addition to her teaching and research, Dr. Carroll has maintained a faculty practice to provide consultation and career coaching in the hospital education department of a tertiary care university teaching hospital in the Texas Medical Center.
