Amy O. Calvin, PhD, RN is an Associate Professor of Clinical Nursing in the Department of Acute and Continuing Care. Dr. Calvin also has a faculty practice at St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital where she is responsible for the development and implementation of palliative care research projects. She received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and her Master’s and PhD in Nursing from The University of Texas at Austin. Dr. Calvin is a member of the Hospice and Palliative Nurses Association, Sigma Theta Tau International, Nursing Honor Society, and Southern Nursing Research Society. Her research interests focus on advance care planning for patients receiving hemodialysis and communication among patients, families, and health care providers at the end of life. Dr. Calvin has published manuscripts related to end-of-life care and pain management.
