Carol Carrier is a clinical nurse specialist for the140 bed Newborn Center at Texas Children's Hospital in Houston, Texas where she coordinates the developmental and pain management initiatives. Carol recently received one of the Texas Nurses Association's Outstanding Nurse awards at the Nursing Celebration 2007. She serves on the faculty for the University of Texas Health Science Center School of Nursing. Carol received her master's degree on the Harold Stirling Vanderbilt full scholarship award to Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. Her honors include the "Excellence in Advanced Clinical Practice" award from the National Association of Neonatal Nurses (NANN) and Reba Hill Award from Baylor College of Medicine. Carol lectures nationally and has publications in peer-reviewed journals and textbooks including Developmental Care of Newborns and Infants:Guide for Health Professionals. Her research has been presented internationally and involves infants with tracheostomy and environmental effects on the premature infant in neonatal intensive care.
