Comprehensive Examination

The comprehensive examination serves as a basis for determining the student’s knowledge and readiness to pursue the Clinical Scholarship Portfolio (CSP) and the fellowship and seminar courses of the third year of the program. The examination is composed of a written and an oral component. The student is expected to demonstrate high level command of the knowledge gained from course work and practice. The comprehensive exam policy and procedure is found in DNP Policy D8050 (pdf).

Clinical Scholarship Portfolio

The CSP is a collection of required scholarly components that demonstrates a student’s scholarship as a clinical expert practicing at the highest level of advanced practice nursing and evidence of competency in all domains of DNP practice. The CSP includes a major scholarly capstone project. Upon successful completion of the foundational courses, the student is assigned a faculty advisor for CSP development. The advisor is selected based on clinical practice expertise congruent with the student’s area of clinical interest.

CSP policy and procedures may be found in DNP Program Policy D8060 (pdf).
